Five on Friday!

O N E

                     I have never been so thankful for it to be Friday like I am today! This was my first week back at work after maternity leave. Lets just say that I am EXHAUSTED. My little one has been wanting to wake up more during the night than his normal one time.


T W O
                     We are on the countdown until summer at school. Only 39 more school days until I can go back to being with my little guy everyday for about 3 months!!


T H R E E
                     Blaze is in full baseball mode now! Getting closer to the draft, he tends to get busier! The Indians extended his territory this year as well. So instead of JUST having North Texas (which is already a huge area itself) he now has all of Oklahoma AND Northern Louisiana! Crazy little life we live!

F O U R
                    Had a total mom moment today. Little Lake pooped on me the other day on my jeans, well I washed them right after with other laundry. I put those CLEAN pants on today annnnd I noticed they still have some baby poop on them!! HA! AND my tshirt (that lets me wear jeans at work) that I have on, has some weird throw up stain down the front!! HAHA! Whoops!


F I V E
                    I was thinking the other day about how exciting it is to be able to celebrate mothers day and fathers day this year!! I need some cute ideas for fathers day to do for Blaze though!! Any thoughts?

Maternity Leave is Over

Unfortunately my maternity leave is over tomorrow!! I can't believe how fast these past 3 months have gone by! Little Lake man has grown so much in 13 weeks it is crazy!! I wish we actually got A) paid maternity leave, and B) Longer maternity leave like other countries. It still blows my mind that in today's time, in such a developed country, we still don't have ANY type of maternity leave. We are THE only developed country in the world to NOT offer any type of paid maternity leave. I feel bad for the women out there who can't afford any maternity leave or even those who only get 4 or 6 weeks. I couldn't imagine only being with Lake for that short of a time. First off I would be totally exhausted at work and I feel like I would be a crappy employee to have around lol. Second, I would be really grumpy due to the lack of sleep you get. 

I have definitely enjoyed every minute of being with Lake though. I do get envious of all of my friends with little ones who get to become stay at home moms when they have a baby! What I would do to be able to stay home full time with him right now! THANKFULLY we only have 8.5 weeks I believe until summer break where I will get almost 3 more months to be with him! :) 

I definitely got as many snuggles in as possible over the weekend and he is currently asleep on me right now! This next week, Blaze gets to have daddy duty all week with Lake!! So Lake will be going to many baseball games this week with him! hah Should be a fun experience for them two!

Monday Ramblings

So it’s another Monday and luckily we have a staff development day which means no students! It might not be a day off, but if any of you are teachers, you know that staff development days are better than regular days! Though, staff development days mean long trainings that you are forced to sit through where you would rather be in your classroom, with your subject team, making lessons, planning or even grading papers… but hey, what can you do!

October is a crazy month in the Lambert household! The next few weekends will be crazy too!! This past weekend Blaze was gone again on the road out in east Texas/Louisiana. He got back last night and then had to fly out to Arizona today until Thursday. THEN he is in Lubbock this coming weekend. I get to have my first baby shower this Saturday so that will be fun to look forward to! Having most of my favorite ladies in one place again!! It’s crazy how fast this pregnancy is flying by! Next weekend is Brooke’s wedding in Austin! Then it’s already Halloween the weekend after with our second baby shower that Sunday! Our annual family photos/maternity pics will be in November too!!

Lots and lots to do these next couple of months!! Baby Lake’s room is almost done (sort of). Only 100 more days to go (or less) J

It's Friday

HECK YES!! It is FINALLY Friday! I don't know about yall, but this week has felt forever long with benchmark testing Tuesday and Wednesday for our kiddos! And to think, we have benchmark testing again next Tuesday and Wednesday!



O N E

We have four more weeks until Spring Break! I know you fellow teachers out there are keeping track! My students and I have a countdown of how many school days are left up on the board in my classroom! Hurry up March!!



T W O

Blaze and I have our adoption meeting on Monday with a certain agency!! We are praying that everything goes smoothly with them and they are the one we are supposed to go through! This whole process so far has been so stressful and it will be nice once we know what direction we are going agency wise!!

Our t-shirt fundraiser is in MAJOR need of help! It closes next week and we still need a ton more shirts before they will make them and ship them out! if we dont meet our goal, we will have to start over! So go take a look!!

Blaze went out of town yesterday to Houston for the weekend (it is baseball season yall). So I got to see my parents last night and we got dinner! It is always nice to go see them when I can (aka, when I have any free time lately).

Our home renovations are slooowly coming along! I really am hoping to post before and after pictures soon!! I am trying to finish the kitchen cabinets and want to hang stuff up on the walls this weekend as well! It is starting to look nice! Woohoo!

LONGEST WEEK OF MY LIFE!!! HAPPY FRIDAY!!

1. I keep thinking about the bachelorette party coming up in July!! I know it's still 3 months away but I'm super super excited!! Here is the cute little house we are staying at for the Bachelorette Party :)

5. Working & living in southern Louisiana, I have come to realize that they hate Texans very much (almost as much as I hate living here). I think they are bitter, they have to pay for their kids to go to private school for a half-decent education, while we have AMAZING public schools, everything here is overpriced, while you can get a beautiful home w/land for the price of an okay home here, the people cant talk right or drive and there are NO jobs... want me to keep going?? haha #MISSINGTEXAS

1. Missing this hunk right now. He left Tuesday and won't be back until Sunday. Goodluck this weekend :) 

2. This song has been coming on XMRadio lately, on the Highway. I love it.. and I just found out it is Jamie Lynn Spears who sings it!! (Britney Spears little sister).

Weekend Update

 Friday night I went and watched the baseball game. They won so Blaze was in a great mood afterwards!! 

Saturday, they ending up playing a double header because it was supposed to rain on Sunday. So they started at 3 and didn’t finish until about 10:30 that night. The second game went into 15 innings!! CRAZY long day of baseball. They won the first but lost the second—so that meant Pepper’s Pizza for dinner!! YUM! It started raining about 10 mins after the game was over—it was awesome timing! 

Sunday we drove out to New Orleans so Blaze could find suits for the wedding!!! AHH! It was fun to see him get somewhat excited! Makes it seem like it is all getting a little closer!! Then we ventured out to Whole Foods (that is the closest one to us) and the New Orleans Whole Foods was super neat looking! It was in such a cute little area of New Orleans. Then came home and just relaxed (finally).

Not too much went on this weekend. Next weekend Blaze will be out of town so that means I will be finishing our taxes, finishing painting the hallway, and maybe some wedding crafts!

Finally Friday!!

1. It is Pi Day!!

2.This weekend is finally conference games for Blaze’s team!! Go Nicholls!

3.Earlier this week, the weather said it was supposed to FINALLY be nice!! Well I looked today and it says rain… again!! UGH!

4. We are on a ‘healthy cleanse’ this week… so that means that I have not had a glass of wine all week!! Anyone that knows me, knows that I love wine.. especially after work (with dinner)!! 2 more days!!!

5.  Blaze made me listen to this the other day.. SO funny and SUPER catchy!!

HAPPY THURSDAY!!

This week has been flying by—THANK GOODNESS!! I am so ready for this weekend, but who isn’t?? The weather down here is finally acting normal! It is supposed to be warm and sunny—makes great baseball-watching weather! J No big plans this weekend but relaxing, homework, & maybe finishing painting!! 

So there are lots of changes coming our way!! Just know that they are all good and we are super excited!!

Well, we finally are getting into the fun stretch of all of this wedding stuff! About 4 & a half months left (EEK) which means bridal showers, bachelorette party, pictures, etc! Woohoo! I just wish I was closer right now to have my girls really help out because I know they wish they could!

I am needing someone who plays the guitar really well for our wedding ceremony, hmmm what should I do?? I don’t really know anyone who can play besides guys that are in the wedding!! Any ideas??

Five on Friday

One// Blaze will be gone Sunday-Monday for baseball!! Their first out of town weekend of the baseball season! Hmm.. what to do this weekend!

Two// The weather here has been crazy… it was 75 degrees Wednesday and it was in the 40’s yesterday at the baseball game. I am SO ready for summer weather, my tan, going to the pool, etc. So many fun things to look forward to this summer too!!

Three// Scandal started last night!! Being excited is an over statement for sure. If you haven't watched that show, START!! Such a good show!

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY

One// Thank goodness it is FINALLY Friday! I had Monday off, which I love, but I feel like 4 day work weeks can feel even longer than regular work weeks!!

Two// So Mardi Gras is officially starting down here in southern Louisiana. On the way to work this morning, I passed several party buses and they were drinking… and by the way, it was 8:45AM!!! These people are crazy haha. Mardi Gras is like a national holiday down here. Our office is closed for it, the schools have 3 days off… crazy I know.

Three// This weekend will be full of cleaning and baseball. We haven’t had a lot of time on the weekends in the past few weeks. We were in Houston last weekend and so the house got even messier!! I will definitely be cleaning like crazy tomorrow. The guys have a tournament going on so I will be watching baseball games at night!

Four// My birthday is Monday and I have told Blaze several times to NOT do anything for me. He does so much all the time so I told him I didn’t need or want anything. Well I know he won’t listen (and he will read this)… so I think he said we are doing something Sunday for it.

Five// I finally got my hair done Monday. I haven’t found a salon out here since we moved (we moved here back in August). She was amazing!! Any tips on how to get your hair to grow?? I am taking vitamins to help!! 

Weekend Update!

So I look like I disappeared the past few days!! Well to catch up with yall, Thursday was my Friday of the work week! After I got off Thursday, Janelle and I packed up and drove to Houston! It was the easiest drive ever!! We stopped in Lafayette and ate at Zoë’s Kitchen and then got some coffee. It was a good drive though! Friday we went shopping and around Houston, the weather was amazing!! It was nice to have good shopping and food again. That night, the guys had a game so we went to that (unfortunately they lost). Saturday was filled with more shopping and walking around. It was so warm in Houston this weekend…it makes me excited for summer! Then the guys had another game that night. Sunday the game was earlier which was nice because it was kind of sunny out! We went to eat afterwards before we got back on the road! Yesterday (Monday), I was lucky enough to have the day off for president’s day!! I was hoping to spend the day cleaning the house because it is a disaster… buuut that didn’t happen. I FINALLY got my hair done and then had to run an errand for the coaches, and I DID get my homework done on time!!

It was neat to go back to Texas for the weekend because it feels like it has been forever (even though it’s only been since Christmas). I won’t be going back home for a while until this summer unfortunately! BUT Baseball Season is here so that means spring/summer is coming!! I really hope they do well this season!! They play again tonight and then Thursday-Sunday!

AND my birthday is next Monday.. the big 24!! I am so not excited…

Today is my Friday

So Janelle and I are headed to Houston tonight after I get off work for the weekend! (Janelle is the head coach’s wife). Since we are leaving, I had to find a place to board the dogs for the weekend… which I didn’t think would be a big deal for me since we have left them before. Well, I went home at lunch to get Kimber and Cali to take them to the boarding place and I swear that I almost cried when I got back into my car. I felt so bad leaving them with strangers… they have only ever stayed with Blaze’s sister… never strangers. I just hope that they are okay but at least they are together. As yall know, Blaze and I don’t have actual babies… but to us, those animals are our babies!! You animal moms out there can relate to me I’m sure! So sad...

Well on a brighter note, I just checked the weather for Houston this weekend and it is supposed to be VERY nice. Our recent weather has been super cold lately so I’m excited for 70’s weather!! That makes the perfect baseball watching weather!! I know the coaches are super pumped and nervous for this weekend. Blaze and the other coaches have been working their butts off with these guys (who have also been working hard). It will be fun to finally start watching them play and WIN!!

Weekend Update

So our weekend was eventful!! Friday night, I had a quiet night to myself (I should’ve worked on homework) but Blaze had to work super late that night. I just watched movies and laid around with the dogs! Blaze got home so late that I didn’t even hear him come in!

Saturday I went for mani/pedis with one of the other baseball coach’s wife! It was much needed! Then Blaze said they had an alumni game, which I tried to do some homework (it was a pretty day... I didn’t feel like it again). But that night the baseball team held their first pitch banquet. It was really fun! We went out afterwards and let’s just say, I didn’t feel good yesterday!

Sunday (yesterday) I kind of lounged around the house but didn’t feel too good. I did some homework and then went and watched the baseball game for a little while. The weather yesterday was amazing! It was in the 70’s… in FEBRUARY!! Then last night, all of the coach’s and their ladies went out to Baton Rouge to Texas de Brazil. It was so good (I’ve never been there before). Definitely more for people who like red meat and can eat a ton (which I can’t do either) but it was so so good! Very pretty place.

This week will be kind of crazy! I have 3 assignments due tonight, one I haven’t started… good job Amy. I will be working on that all night. Then Wednesday Blaze and I will be doing a little date night for Valentine’s Day because they leave Thursday morning for Houston!! Janelle and I (the head coach’s wife) will be going down Thursday night when I get off work!! I am excited to get a weekend away, back in a big city! You never know how much you miss the city until you are super far from one. The boys are opening up at the University of Houston, and the weather is supposed to be really nice! So I’m excited to go to a game or two. I’m really excited to see a great friend of mine that I haven’t seen in what feels like forever. It’s funny because we used to see each other practically every day when I was at Texas Tech!! Feels like forever ago now! L  But it will be good to catch up with her and go to dinner, and shopping, etc!
